MisunderstandingsI sat in front of my computer with horrendous writer’s block. I was already having a bad night and to top it all off I was being asked to write a paper about a misunderstanding and there was not one misunderstanding I could think of that would be interesting to write about. I had started with a snotty neighbor; I couldn’t get past the first sentence. The second attempt had been too close to the story line of “The Virgin Suicides” and was way too heavy to try to fit into a short story that I would probably be forced to read in class. I realized with a growing panic that it was already 10:31 p.m. and if I didn’t get this paper doneMisunderstandings

Creation of the EarthIn the beginning there was a thimble, a simple metal and silver thimble. That thimble, of course, was God. God liked to amuse himself by turning himself into this simple object, an object that had been around simply since before the beginning. God simply did not have a sense of time; he had no idea where he had come from or what he was doing. On the other hand, he had found ways to amuse himself such as he could shape things from the matter that he was surrounded by. He was very proud of himself for he found that he could shape a likeness of himself and he made many replicas. He happily called them angels and found them to be his companions.Creation of the Earth

Beach HouseOur beach house is easy to miss, small, weathered, gray, and described a cute. (I think that’s just another way of trying to make up for its lack of size.) It sits itself right on the beach, the sand and waves are our front yard while our back yard consists of a busy road and beyond that busy road another set of houses and a salt pond. Those poor houses on the other side of the road, they’re so close to the beach, so tantalizingly close and yet the inhabitants still have to walk to the public beach in order to actually go to the beach.Beach House

EmptyThe thing that I feared most was what was coming true. I turned and looked up at the dark winter sky. There was not a single star that I could see. The night was cold and damp. There was no snow on the ground and the ground was frozen solid. My foot steps sounded like gun shots to my lonely ears. I trudged slowly across the field to my house. I reached the front gate and tensed, waiting for the sound of the creaking of the hinges. I glanced around. There was no one else near, I was alone. I put my hand carefully on the gate and tried to swing it open. It was stuck and after I applied force it opened in jerky spurts, moaning as it went.Empty
